2010 COMSA LONG COURSE METERS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS MEET DESCRIPTION
SANCTION Sanctioned by COMSA for USMS, Inc. Sanction 32-10-06-S and Recognized by IGLA TIMING Electronic timing will be used for all events, with back-up pickles and hand-timing. Eligibility Only Masters Swimmers with 2010 USMS Registration or foreign equivalent may participate. Verification of your current (2010) USMS card or card from foreign master's equivalent must accompany your registration. A one-day USMS registration will be available for $10 on the day of the meet. RULES Current USMS Rules govern the competition, including a NO FALSE START RULE, and whistle alerts announcing the start of each race. Age as of 12/31/10 determines competition age. Seeding will be done from slow to fast by time, with ages mixed. Men and women will be seeded separately, and event results will be separated. Be sure to enter long-course 50-meter times on your registration. All events are timed finals. No paddles kick boards or pull buoys are allowed during warm-ups. NUMBER OF ENTRIES Entries are limited to 5 events plus 2 relays. All entries are to be submitted via the Swim Meet Registration system. (No individual time cards are required). A heat sheet and meet program will be available on the day of the meet. SCORING Individual events will be scored (by age group) from 1st to 6th place as follows: 7-5-4-3-2-1 points. Relay events will be scored (by age group) from 1st to 6th place as follows: 14-10-8-6-4-2 points. TEAM RELAYS Relay time cards will be available at the Registration Reception, and must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. on July 17th at the pool. Relays may be composed of 4 men (all men), 4 women (all women), or 2 men and 2 women (mixed), and will be scored in those categories. To be officially scored and recorded, all 4 swimmers on a relay must belong to the same team. Swimmers may only swim one medley relay and one freestyle relay. Four swimmers from separate COMSA teams may swim on the same relay as an officially-scored competitive team -- that team will be listed as swimming for "Colorado Masters Swimming". Relay cards will be available on deck, and will be accepted according to deadlines announced at the meet. RELAY AGE GROUPS Relays will be run together according to seed time, but will be scored according to the cumulative age of the four relay members (76-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, etc.). Any swimmer who is only participating in the relay must still pay a registration fee AND sign the Liability Release. EXHIBITION RELAYS For those unattached swimmers, or swimmers with insufficient teammates to form a relay, separate exhibition relays will be arranged at the Registration Party. You must be registered for the meet and sign-up by 8:30 a.m. on July 17th at the pool. These swimmers may participate in the relay, but will not be officially scored or reported. LONG DISTANCE EVENTS The 1500, 800, 400 Free, and 400 IM events require advance check-in and must check in by 12:00 pm (noon) on July 17th at the pool. There will be clearly marked, separate areas for meet check-in and positive check-in. Distance swimmers must provide their own counters. Lap cards will be available. RESULTS Results will be posted at the Swim Meet as soon as possible after each event. Final results will be posted on this web site and COMSA's web site. Additionally, results will be available via Swim Meet MasterTM, the online registration system. T-SHIRTS To guarantee that you receive a meet t-shirt (available for purchase), you must pre-order one during registration and indicate your size when ordering. A limited number of extra T-shirts may be available at the meet. Late registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt. AWARDS Each swimmer receives a participation award. Late registrants are not guaranteed a participation award. Individual and team awards will be given. The team awards will be given at the Saturday night awards ceremony. Additionally, awards will be given for the Male and Female High-Points, in addition to the following awards: SHORT- AND LONG-PENTATHLON AWARDS The Short Pentathlon is made up of the 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast, 50 free, and 200 IM. The Long Pentathlon is made up of the: 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 100 free, and 400 IM. Participants will receive a special gift at the Saturday Night Awards Reception. BRUTE SQUAD AWARD The elite group of aquatic wonders who complete the 200 Fly, 400 IM, and 1500 Free will receive a special gift at the Saturday Night Awards Reception. DEADLINES
Early registration closes on July 9, 2010. REGISTRATION Registration will be on-line only via the registration system. There will be no registration or entry verification via telephone. ENTRY CONFIRMATION After registering, you will automatically be e-mailed a confirmation of your registration, including your event entries. If you do not receive this confirmation, contact Swim Meet Master. MEET SCHEDULE
ORDER OF SWIMMING EVENTS
ENTRIES AND FEES There is a $12 charge per swimmer and a $4 fee per individual event (maximum of 2 distance events and 5 mid-distance/sprint events) There is a $30 charge for each person to attend the Social Events package:
There is a $25 surcharge for all late registrations. T-shirts are $15 ($20 for XL and XXL) and must be ordered during registration in order to guarantee availability. A small number may be available at the meet. White-water rafting on Sunday will cost $50 for a half-day or $100 for a full-day. In order to ensure an accurate count for the trip, payment for rafting will need to be made during the meet registration process. HEAT SHEETS Heat sheets will be posted online and in several locations around the pool deck. Additional heat sheets can be purchased at the meet for a $3.00 cash fee. LIABILITY WAIVER Every swimmer will need to agree to the liability waiver when registering. Any swimmers who have not agreed to the waiver will need to sign a waiver in order to enter the pool. There will be no exceptions. |
